Kanovium Fort
July 2011

See3D recently completed the digital reconstruction of Kanovium Fort, a Roman fort that once stood in the Conwy valley. Originally built around 75 AD, it would have housed a regiment of about 500 foot-soldiers, and contained the usual headquarters building, commanding officer's house, granaries and barrack blocks. This animation will appear on an interactive display at Lladudno Museum.

Even your grumpy hyper-critical archaeologist has to admit he's impressed!

See3D are pleased to announce the broadcast of a new heritage TV series : "Houses of the Welsh Countryside" on S4C. See3D produced a number of central animations for this six-part documentary series, examining Welsh vernacular architecture.

Thank you for the co-operation during the last year or so. It has been a pleasure working with your team. Both Matt & Jake were absolutely delightful and no request was too much. Many many thanks.

Jonah Jones, Hidden Histories
August 2009

See3D created this animation of 1960's sculpture "The Bridge" by Jonah Jones for The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales. The sculpture was due to be dismantled when the accommodation block at Coleg Harlech was demolished to make way for a new hotel development. It was used as a key feature in a second series of the successful BBC TV programme Hidden Histories.

I was delighted with the 3D animation by See3D of the sculpture Avo Penn Bid Pont (The Bridge) by my late father, Jonah Jones, at Coleg Harlech. The sculpture is soon to lose its home at the college as the hall of residence is scheduled for demolition. The feature on BBC's Hidden Histories by Element Productions, which included the impressive animated sequence by See3D showing how the sculpture originally looked, may help find the artwork a new home and is an excellent record for posterity of this major sculpture. As a family we are very grateful to See3D and the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments for completing this animation project to such a high standard.

Grimes Graves
July 2009

Grimes Graves is a large Neolithic flint mine close to the border between Norfolk and Suffolk. It was worked between around circa 3000 BC and circa 1900 BC. Using extremely large LIDAR data sets provided by English Heritage, See3D were able to create this stunning animation flying through the caves! The animation has been used as part of an onsite exhibition, allowing people to safely view more of the mines.

From initial discussions through to delivery of final 3D model, it remained a pleasure working with Tom and his team at See3D. Their expertise in handling the large data files typically associated these days with laser scanning coupled with their own ideas and innovative suggestions produced a very realistic and cost-effective solution to the three dimensional modelling of a Neolithic Flint mine.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
September 2008

Wrexham Town Council won through to the 'international stage' for their bid for World Heritage Site status for the aquaduct at Pontcysllte using See3D's visualisation of how Thomas Telford might have constructed the structure. Our animation has now been updated and rendered in full 1080p HD for inclusion in a forthcoming BBC documentary series, Hidden Histories, describing the work of RCAHMW.

Carmarthenshire County Council
September 2008

See3D created a six minute animated visualisation for Carmarthen County Council showing Carmarthen Castle in it's various forms through the ages. This work has been updated to produce a DVD with English and Welsh subtitles and voice over describing the history and development of the castle to enable it to be on permanent exhibition within the visitor centre.

The authority are excited to see the finished product and hope it will be able to bring the Castle alive to visitors through presenting a 3D visualisation of its historical development.
